Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions including but not limited to:
Founded in the late 1880’s, Osteopathy is a regulated healthcare profession, recognised by the British Medical Association alongside Doctors and Dentists.
As a registered Osteopath I completed a 5yr BSc Hons Bachelor’s degree in Osteopathy. Osteopathy is regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). By law, all practising Osteopaths in the UK must be fully registered with GOsC. Every year our licence is renewed once Professional Indemnity Insurance checks are made and upon completion of mandatory Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
All treatment sessions are provided in the comfort of your own home. Please chose a room with enough space for me to manoeuvre around my couch (approx. 6ft long and 3ft wide) Please dress appropriately – a lot of my patients find shorts/joggers and a t-shirt comfortable. You may be asked to remove your top so I can assess you properly.
A full case history will be taken, which will involve taking a detailed account of your presenting complaint, and any medical conditions that you may have, or have had. It is useful to have a list of any medicine you are currently taking to hand. A full examination includes testing the movement of the problematic area(s). The examination may also include special tests such as taking your blood pressure. My diagnosis will be noted and explained to you, including a treatment plan and any other necessary information/advice. Only once serious medical pathology has been ruled out and patient consent has been given will treatment proceed. Treatment may include; physical manipulation, articulation, massage and stretching. Please allow 1hour for the initial consultation and treatment.
Progression will be noted, and an examination will be taken to assess the area for any changes. The diagnosis will be explained once more (along with any changes). Any treatment plan will be explained as before. Please allow 45mins for any follow up treatments.
Payment is accepted in Cash/Cheque (on the day) and Bank Transfer (to be paid in full within 48hrs of appointment date). I reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee for any no shows/late cancellations which will be served at my discretion. Cancellations within 24hrs may be charged at 50% of the appointment cost and cancellations within 12hrs of the appointment may be charged at 100% of the appointment cost
I had my first treatment with Laura today for an ongoing hip issue that was causing a lot of pain. She is friendly, puts you at ease, very thorough, and professional. I will definitely book again if only for the deep tissue massage that felt just wonderful after weeks of pain.
Laura is professional, friendly and she sorted my back out when I was in a lot of pain I felt so much better after a treatment…she also treats my partners nan who is over 90! She loves the treatment Laura gives her I highly recommend Laura to anyone
Can’t recommend Laura enough, two visits and I am pain free after 3 years. I tried several chiros, Osteopath’s, physios, doctors and had X-rays and nothing helped then along came Laura, in the comfort of my own home too. I can now ride my horse without suffering for days after!
Laura is very professional and friendly and completely sorted my back out. I can’t thank her enough. I felt like I’d done four hours of yoga when she had finished with me I highly recommend her services.
I treat all ages from young children to the elderly.
This is all very specific to your case and can depend on factors such as age, type of injury/issue, lifestyle, how long the issue has been going on for.
I do not ask for multiple sessions to be purchased upfront as everyone recovers at different rates so this can be difficult to gauge. A typical time frame can range from 1 or 2 treatment sessions to a few weeks of sessions. Once the initial pain has been eased and the issue resolved most of my patients like to see me for maintenance sessions to keep them pain free and mobile.
Depending on my availability you may be able to get same day or next day appointments. I will of course endeavour to get you booked in ASAP.
I ask my patients to take their top off and wear loose shorts/joggers so I can correctly examine posture and joint movements.
Although the treatment may be slightly uncomfortable due to me treating existing strains/injuries it should not hurt and I seek feedback from my patients to ascertain their comfort levels. You may feel slight discomfort on the area(s) worked on for a day or so as this is part of the normal healing process.
£60 for a 1hr initial consultation and treatment
